While Rhowan and Harmony both appear quite regularly on my blog, Tabby, our two year old, appears much less often. Recently though she has become a lot more interested in being photographed and will often try and join in when I'm shooting the other kids.
In this instance though she needed a bit of persuasion as she was in the middle of a game. And I would tell you what she was playing, but couldn't get a straight answer. What I can tell you is that it involved the huge piece of paper she had stuffed in her pocket, the plastic cups she had pilfered from the kitchen, and her brother's hat. Beyond that though I really have no idea what she was doing other than that she was having fun :-)
As you can see, I mostly concentrated on increasing the contrast and lightening (and extending) the background, but I also spent some time accentuating some of the details in the original scene; i.e. the paper in her pocket and her eyes (as discussed in this tutorial).
I have another shot, taken a few minutes after this one, that I'll post on Wednesday.

I love at how SHARP this portrait looks after you've made your adjustments. Really goes to show how post-processing can make a BIG difference even if used sparingly.

It's like you've WASHED the image. Everything is cleaner, more clear, crispier; like you took a layer of film off. and the re-proportioning of the composition is a masterful touch. two thumbs up!

Nicely done with the wall. Looks almost like a studio background. And I like how you have tweaked the composition.
Judging by the look on her face it almost looks as if she thinks you stopped because of the pilfered cups. Looking adorable, but ever so slightly worried as to why she had to be photographed at that instant.
It's also interesting how the colour in the image seem to fit into a colour scheme. Though probably somwhat accidental in this occasion, it really helps "make" the image.
You and Libby have the most beautiful children I know (virtually). Tabby is adorable and I love her blue eyes matching with all the others blue in the pic. Well done! Wonderful photo.

This is a young lady with a plan! She is very smart and can only pause enough for the shutter to click :)
I appreciate it when you post the original. Your processing brings out so much detail. Polka dots rock!

Beautiful portrait of a beautiful little girl! Like the look in her eyes.
It grabs my attention his innocence, and the way he looks at the camera. The postprocessing is most suitable to the subject. You've an excellent job, full of sentivity and gentleness.
A Lovely image. I think it does a great job of conveying the mood, and makes you wonder what she is up to. As usual the processing is great, and really shows how a somewhat bland capture has potential to be a stunner. (but that is the point of your tutorials, no?)
What a great catch! The paper in her pocket made me laugh out loud. I can't believe how white the background is. Nicely done.

Beautiful high key photograph David, but I would not like you to turn a studio pro. Your best work comes from where you are out observing the world around you
