I'm pleased to say that Libby is back from the UK – just one week later than expected – and I now have my new 5D Mark II. I haven't had a chance to use it in earnest yet, but did snap a few shots this morning. I'll post some more images and my first impressions over the next day or so.
In the meanwhile, here's my first effort.
Oh, and this one definitely looks best with the black theme.

Oh wow.. What a cool futuristic high tech super abstract :D
If I'll have to guess, I'll say it's the inside of a washing machine.. or something
Enjoy the new camera, so far it looks great :D

Hi Dave,
Can't wait to read what will be your first impressions...and it looks like you wanted to test your new camera in some tough low lights conditions...like the inside of a washing machine ;) The result is wonderful.
Got my 5D Mark II yesterday and I am really impressed by how it operates in low light and its seems that noise doesn't mean a lot to that camera.
Cheers
Rodolphe

Catalin: as a few people have guessed - its the inside of a washing machine :)
Rodolphe: I've shot a few portraits of the kids today and, like you, have been very impressed with how it handles low light, especially in terms of the lack of noise at higher ISO.
Samar: the colours are true to the original, but were boosted using the Channel Mixer.

Wow. I figured it might be some sort of woman's belt or fashion accessory or something. The washing machine makes instant sense. Remarkable photo.

Looks interesting! Not sure what it is, but it's one of those shots of yours where the subject is quite mundane, but the end result looks cool!
Enjoy the new camera!
