This is another shot of the same young boy, taken about 15 minutes before the previous one and, as you can see, he's not quite as confident in this one. By the end of the evening he was running up to me and grinning from ear to ear, but at this point his approaches were a bit more cautious :)

HEY HEY! It's him again! That kid's adorable man. Funny thing I noticed upon seeing the original: He appears to be a completely different race in color than in b/w. lol

Can't help smiling when watching this. He is adorable.

Prefer this over the other one. Brill.

I love that f1.8 look, helps to really focus my eyes on the eyes of the subject, and the difference to the original is huge. I'd like to see it as a mini-psd at some point.

this is what we call a child with affection "shaitan", who is so full of mischief that it drips from their face .... :P

As Justin mentioned, a mini-PSD of this would we good. Cheers.

Very shallow DoF on this yet an amazing amount of depth. enough to blur the ears and bring the face to the fore but not so much as to lose all of the detail. Interesting. Nice, gentle tones in the post processing too.

I definitely can see the change in his curiosity level. This one is good of course, but I love the other one with the ear-to-ear grin. Great choice on the 1x1 crop and the B/W conversion.

Love the black and white processing and the combination of detail and softness. Those glasses are only outdone by the eyes behind the glasses!

Makes me think of the saying "the eyes are the window to the soul". However that grin is a window to some unknown mischief ;^)
Lovely portrait!

Yep. I'd sign up for a mini-PSD of this one. Is this at all possible? The before and after here is just spectacular! Contact me if this is a possibility. Thanks.

mike: I have a Mini-PSD ready to post on Monday (the 29th) but would be happy to add this one to the list. Incidentally, I've just taken another look at the high res' version and nearly all the techniques are covered by my Portraits: part one and Black and White: part one tutorials. As I mentioned though, I'd be happy to add this one too.
