Here's the second shot of Craig that I mentioned, which I think works quite a bit better than the one I posted yesterday.
In related news, Craig and I are heading up to the Shipka Pass tomorrow. When we first moved out to Bulgaria Craig helped me drive over. We spent a fair amount of time running around getting things ready for Libby and the kids to arrive, but we also went out on a few photographic trips. The most interesting, or at least potentially most interesting, was a trip to the Shipka Pass. Unfortunately though, by the time we got there I was ill, so while Craig climbed the 816 steps up to the monument I sat in the van feeling sorry for myself. So, 17 months later, we're going again. Watch this space.

I miss the colours of the original in your picture, they are lovely.

I think this one is a lot more your style. Previous was good but sort of anonymous, this one is definetly you.

Thanks everyone. Well, apart from Pat ;-)
Anne: I liked the colours too, but as yesterday's shot was in colour I thought I'd go with black and white with this one.
Pat: contrived what? Content, processing?

Great Image, Love the contrast and love the black and white version. Really great blog!

I prefer this version to the previous one. I think the Black and white gives the image a stronger or more industrial feel to it. I also like the incorporated yellow in the highlights. Enjoy Shipka Pass, the architecture of the monuments looks interesting.

Thanks Daniel.
Chris: I agree. I liked the colour version but monochrome seemed to fit better with the nature of this shot.

'PAT': whilst your comment is valid, and is probably a fair opinion. I can assure you that It wasn't contrived. I didn't even realize that he was pointing the camera in my direction. I had moved to that end of the building, as I wanted to shoot the village in the distance through the broken glass. I was contemplating the framing, then shooting the image. So not contrived in that respect. Oh and I hate being photographed.
Nicki: Yup its a big old Crumpler, takes my 17" macbook, and all my kit, and still adheres to Hand-luggage size on most carriers. I love it.
