As you'll know if you've been reading my latest few entries I've been in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Oman during the last few weeks. I doubt I'll be posting many shots from Dubai and Abu Dhabi – I was too busy to spend any time shooting – but I do have quite a lot that were taken in Oman: some more portraits from the Muttrah Souq, and a range of shots that I took at Jabal Shams (home of one of the largest canyons in the world). This is the first, a shot of Jason at sunrise, taken near the Jabel Shams resort.

I'll write more about my trip when I post my next shot, but in the meanwhile, let me know what you think of this one.

Great composition and very natural contrast.

Nice toning and I really like the clear and crisp sillouette. I have to say, the fact that you had clouds was lucky because it add a nice depth to the shot, when I was in Oman in October I didn't see a cloud for a week. :)

Interesting treatment, going against the usual "make the sunrise as bright as possible" philosophy, and giving a very striking result!

Very nice indeed..would look great as a photo painting. You can contact me if interested in a collaboration with painting artists for your clients' photos...

Even the original photo looks fantastic! I especially like how you can barely see the reflection of the sunlight off of the photographer's pant legs, giving you a nice border between the subject and the mountain range.

Have you considered post-processing w/o turning this to monochrome?

This is a great treat to start my Friday! Thank you very much for sharing.

Fantastic B/W and toning. The contrasts surrounding the sun make it feel so real.

Very nice, striking image. Toning is very Chromasia.

I like it. I think the original looks even better than the processed version!

It is a very good shot and absolutely no offense to you, it reminds me of the clichéd
 motivational posters
