This is the third infrared shot I've posted from our recent trip to the Lakes, and it's probably the most surreal of the bunch, mostly because I used a technique that allows you to mimic a blue sky. If you take a look at the original you'll see that the image as a whole has a red/brown tint, typical of an infrared image white-balanced for foliage. By switching the red and blue channels you can return the sky to something like a fairly normal colour, and by adding a mask to this layer you can confine the effect to just the sky. In other words, the ground and foliage are very similar to the straight shot, while the colour of the sky has been switched. I suspect the novelty of this approach will wear off at some point, but for the moment it's an effect I really like.
