All being well, we’ll be moving to Blackpool in a couple of months, so we took a trip over there today. Mostly so we could have a look round the area, but also to take the kids to the beach. This sign was at the top of one of the many flights of stone stairs leading down to the beach and looked as though it were made from a car number plate.
As far as post-processing goes, all I did to this image was to darken the sky a little. I was using a polarizer but the sun was at the wrong angle for it to make much difference. Had we had longer I probably would have gone back later in the day as I imagine that the late afternoon sun would have provided a much better shot.

Nice picture. Something about that sign makes me want to actually follow it, it feels like a danger or a toxic sign. I also like the obvious tresspassing that went on, with the tire tracks on the beach.

Stunning really. Taken a picture like that myself, but nothing like this one of course.
Wow, bold colours. Good composition and a strong message. Almost surreal. Like a - how was it called - ehm, airbrush-painting. Yes, that's the word I'm looking for.

as usual, a beautiful shot. i like the contrasting color and the harshness of the sign against the soft nature behind.
Love the yellow and black sign! .. also love the colors in the sand.. We've had terrible weather this last week -- I just finished the SINGLE roll of film I brough back from London - I pray the images turn out. Did you see that Canon introduced the new S60? That will be a really nice camera to have on trips.
Your image makes me miss the sea...

I love the easy going daylight feel of this shot. Well done.

Thanks all. And Kate: no, I boosted the saturation a little but didn't specifically do anything to the sea.

Bob: the S60 looks great and seems remarkably similar (in terms of spec) to my G5 other than i) the maximum aperture is less impressive (f2.8/5.6 as opposed to f2.0/3.0) and the zoom range is smaller but goes to 28mm rather than 35mm. The big plus though is it's a lot smaller and is only about half the weight of the G5.

I love this. Ironically tonight I shot an image of a DO NOT ENTER sign, but yours is stunning. I love how the sign seems to glow from the inside.

Nice contrast!
I like the picture...
Are you sure you didn't touch up the sea, looks too blue for Blackpool. Add this to my poster list ;-)
