I'm not convinced this shot is all that great, hence it's in the photolog category, but I thought I'd include it on the grounds that it's reasonably colourful, and moderately interesting. It's a shot of our daughter's football that has been knocking around our garden since last summer. They rarely play with it, but I'm sure they'd complain bitterly if we got rid of it ;-)
And I suppose another reason for taking it is to do with the fact that we're moving soon. I've found myself taking more and more shots around the house and garden, documenting things that I might not normally shoot, purely because I won't have the opportunity for much longer. And I'm not sure that it's a practice that will lead to any particularly good shots, but it will document some of the things that become noticeable over the coming weeks.

I believe that taking photographs of things you see daily and making the ordinary look extraordinary (as you've done with this shot) is part of what it's all about; what a fantastic gift for your daughters when they're all grown up -- to see a cherished toy photographed so beautifully by their own Dad. . . it's lovely.
Here's hoping that all forthcoming days until moving day (and beyond) are this colorful =)

Dave, well done. Reminds me of the beginning of "Blue Velvet", where the camera is moving around among the blades grass. Also, I like compositions where there is some kind of barrier between the viewer and the "subject".

wow, i love it. the colors are amazing. i was trying to figure out who the two people are.. and i've come to the conclusion it's jane and tarzan (without the vine, i'd have been stuck).
very nice.

I took a very similar photo of my brothers metallic silver football today in my parents garden, I haven't seen mine yet but I doubt it will be as good as yours !

Thanks. I wasn't too sure about this one so it's good to get some positive feedback.

That is the first thing I noticed about it was how vibrant the colors were, especially the grass.
