Despite the fact that I've only been away for a couple of days (and only missed putting up one image; i.e. yesterday's) for some reason it feels much longer. And I wish I could say that I managed to take hundreds of great shots on my travels, but it didn't quite work out like that. I did find a couple of hours in and amongst everything else I was doing but I didn't feel particularly inspired, and don't think I've taken anything too great.
That said, I do like this one. It's taken on the pier at Southend-on-Sea which, at around one mile in length, is the longest pier in Britain. This was taken fairly near to the shore and while the lighting wasn't all that great I do think it's moderately striking.
Oh, and I mentioned before I went away that we would be moving on the 5th of this month but, yet again, that date didn't work out so it now seems as though it will be the 16th. Hopefully that means that things might not be quite so hectic and I'll be able to find/take enough shots to avoid missing any more days.
And finally, thanks for all your comments over the last couple of days, I'll try and catch up with them all over the weekend.

I do like this shot. There's almost a sense of movement at the front that makes you feel as if you are travelling down the pier.
Hope the move goes well - when it happens!

A Macdonald's wrapper's eye view of the pier. The wood grain is really nice and the slightly out of focus in the foreground adds a sense of movement. PS see my website for email address.
Absolutely breathtaking. I'm in the middle of an ugly fight with my husband, and this lovely photo brought me back to joy, with an instant catch in my throat. Thank-you, for this and for the daily inspiration I have taken from your site since recently coming upon it.

very nice photograph. i like the perspecive, i wonder how this would look in complete black and white, and also what if the middle of the bridge was not in the center? anyway, the cloud filled sky adds a lot to the photo. nicely done.

I assume you do photography for a living, don't you?
Think you could give me some hints?

Nice texture on the pier. Also the lines and the sky are good!

Wow! This one is really an eye grabber. I like how you positioned the camera low. The tone is fantastic and the gloomy sky really adds to the mood. Thanks.

This looks great, a very dark, striking image. The texture just jumps from the page, and the lines draw your eyes and make you think about what could be at the end. Just the sort of reaction to make people think about an image not jst say that is pretty.

wow! this may be my favourite photo of yours, and that's saying quite a bit considering how many exceptional photos you've posted. i love the perspective, the colour and the clouds.

This picture is wonderful. The ominous clouds lack of many colors make it so much more interesting. The perspective is amazing as well.

Thanks everyone.
And thirtythree: no, I make my living as an academic, but who knows, maybe one day I might make some money doing this too ... which would be nice :-)
I love this one. The strange, halfdark color and the wood being cracked (sorry but I don't know the english word for "sprucken"). The clouds does a great thing here to. Very nice indeed.
