This is the first of a couple of shots of our local waste recycling/disposal plant (the other takes a wider angle of view), and it's my least favourite of the two, not least because it required far too much work in Photoshop in terms of both resizing and sharpening. Most of my initial attempts ended up with moiré patterns over much of the image, which, after a considerable amount of trial and error, I finally managed to reduce to an acceptable level.
And if it wasn't for the fact that I really like the various shapes and textures in this shot I think I might have abandoned trying to get it to work at this resolution. Anyway, all that said, I'm reasonably happy with the way it turned out and do think it captures something of the striking architectural nature of this building.
(I haven't included the EXIF data for this shot as, given the amount of manipulation, it really wouldn't be all that meaningful).
I like this shot. Simple and so comforting to look at.

The more I've looked at this shot, the less I've liked it, but I really can't work out quite what's wrong with it. So any critical comments/thoughts/suggestions - of a type other than "yep, it's crap" - would be welcome ;-)

perhaps it's best not looking at it too much.. maybe you'll like it more again in a while.. but to me it's real nice and was worth the time spent editing it.
the 2 axes and 2 circles and 2 greys work great to my eye anyway..

darragh: thanks, and that is a good point. I often find that the images that take most work are the ones I like least.
Really smooth -- love the lines and patterns... but especially love the overall tonality of the image... nice work, Dave...

Even though it's your least favorite of the two, I think it is excellent! I like the way that you composed the shot to capture the different shapes and textures.

personally I like it. It reminds me of a quilt. Maybe if it were my symetrical.. cropped straighter?..but then it would be rather boring..
I love this shot, the geometry of the objects and the image as a whole. Lovely. Skillful eyes.
