I almost used this shot for this week's Photo Friday challenge – Perfection – not because I think it's better than the one I did use, but because the taking of the shot was perfect; i.e. it was one of those occasions when as soon as you see the scene you can visualise the final result. Normally I have a fairly good idea about how I want a shot to look, but on this occassion I knew exactly what I was after. And as far as my own photography goes that pretty much counts as perfection :-)

Wonderful photo. Love the composition and the faded colours. The red bulbs, just enough to give a little accent.
Almost surreal.....

i love that green-blue colour on the pilars that's matched with the reflected clouds. also the line of bulbs and the corresponding line of reflected flags.. i agree with irene how the bulbs give that nice touch of highlight. great capture.

I'm intrigued by the sort of cold feeling of the turqoise and the glassy and distorted reflection of the sky here. The composition feels a little unbalanced and has me wanting to turn my head sideways though, but the colour scheme keeps my eyes moving around it just the same.

I don't really like this one. Maybe it's my monitor, but the colours don't do anything for me and it feels like there's no depth or meaning in it.

Like your "beyond the sea" entry, the colors in the reflective surface are what really attract me. There's some sort of metallic feel that it's very appealing to me. Personally I would have rotated it a bit so the left column was parallel to the edge.

Hey, it looks better on a CRT :) Still, maybe not as impressive as some of the others.

Interesting composition.
I'm not really sure how I feel about it,
but I do like that it has a certain ambiguity as to it's location.

Thanks everyone.
lumen: actually, the composition was intentional. I did try a more balanced version but I decided that I preferred this version - more 'edgy' somehow (if that makes any sense).

there's something very soothing to me about this picture. something to do with the colours and those red lights. something a little dramatic too that i like, as if something was about to happen, yet hasn't yet.
