This is a shot of our eldest two (on the left) playing with two of their cousins, and what I like about this shot is that despite the fact that our two are ten and almost nine this shot typifies the way that children, even though ostensibly playing with one another, often seem to be totally absorbed in their own small part of the game.
As for the technicalities: this was exposed for the sky but I also increased the contrast by dropping the brightness of the shadow areas; i.e. the image is now more of a silhouette than the original.
Oh, and I'm guest posting over at Still Memory today. Thanks Irina for the invite :-)

Fantastic, again. Can't fault it if I try. The colours are absolutely beautiful! Highly evocative.

Great sillouhette shot. I like the warm colours.

yeah - excellent shot. The changes you have made to silhouette the image work well. For some reason this evokes more themes of tranquility for me than yesterdays shot. Lying on the beack, kids playing the background etc etc.
Did you colorise the shot or is the sepia look natural?

The littlest one is especially precious. Don't get me wrong, though, all children are precious... even more so when you can look at them for such long periods of time (photos) while they are not moving or speaking. =)
I enjoy your work very much, David.

I love the crop- nice light. Did you give this a sepia tone or is this really how it was when you shot it?

Oh, man... this is just too good. Great colors... good job darkening the foreground... just fantastic.

Peter, and Clay's Daze: the sepia effect is a consequence of i) warming the image slightly; i.e. changing the colour temperature when converting the RAW image with Photoshop CS (I can't remember the exact setting, but it wasn't a major change), and ii) an increase in contrast (via the Curves tool) which has deepened and unified the colour palette.
