I'm not sure about this one: I was aiming for a feeling of claustrophobia and edginess, but I'm not sure it comes across, at least not all that well. It's sister shot – 'the machine (part II)' – I'm much happier with and will put up first thing tomorrow morning.

And as I'm going down to London mid-morning to shoot my friends wedding there won't be anything on Saturday.

I like this one, especially the cold color-temp and the shallow DOF. Reminds me of one of those creepy Aphex Twin videos.

Is the DOF from the lens, or did you blur the background in 'post'?

I really love the color in this one. It's an awesome shot. Have a nice time in London, and good luck with the wedding!!

Mr King: the DoF is from the lens, and if it reminds you of an AphexTwin video I guess it's probably a bit more successful than I thought.

Sarah: thanks.

I really really like this. It caught my eye just the right way.

i really like the colors and DOF too, but while i feel the edginess i don't see claustrophobia. to me, the colors and lighting give a more open feeling. it's a nice shot though -- it reminds me of a magazine advert.

I feel... anticipation. It's all dark and moody but something very... noisy is about to happen. I love the saturation. Can't wait to see the sister shot!

Just a tad bit underexposed, and the DoF is pushed a little too far. Interesting though... I feel a tighter composition and/or angle is needed to create that feeling of claustraphobia you're trying to achieve. Can't wait to see part II tomorrow...

OK, thanks, I'll treat this one as a partial success then ;-)

Nicely done
Not a partial success, in my book

Ooooo...not just photos and audio gear, but photos OF audio gear.
Love the image, and even more curious as to the nature of this machine...

I like it. Very moody. Very THX-1138.

i'm one of your silent lurkers...
the dabs of blurree colour here is beautiful. i'm not usually a fan of photos of objects, but this looks so much more than that. lovely. slightly dreamy feeling to this as well.
