We decided to go and look at the Blackpool Illuminations again tonight, as they finish next weekend – big mistake!!!! When we went last time it took us about an hour to drive the four or five miles along the sea-front. Tonight, leaving at eight o'clock, with four tired children at the outset, it took almost four hours ...

It was hideous :-/

Mind you, the two who were still awake at the end of it seemed to enjoy it so I guess it was worthwhile.

Anyway, I realise this isn't a great photograph – by any stretch of the imagination – but I'm putting it up a) to remind me of what they look like should the urge to go and see them ever come over me in the future, and b) because I have nothing else to put up. I did take some more shots this evening but I'm too tired to look at them. And, in case you're interested, this is one of the large tableaux at the Northern end of the Illuminations and is probably about 20, or maybe 25 feet long.

For some odd reason, this photo reminds me of the presidential election.

Kane: haha! Just a couple more days!

The blackpool illuminations seem to have come a long way since I was a kid!

Never heard of Blackpool Illuminations, but this image is actually kinda interesting, well, at least it's illumination :)

Oh! Deja vu. I remember the Blackpool Illuminations. And I hadn't remembered them for 25 years! So now your image has me thinking back to the homeland with great nostalgia. If my memory is correct, we viewed them by walking (since neither of my parents could drive at the time), and I loved them!

I hope more of your shots of this extravagant display work out and you feel like posting them, though I guess I won't be too broken hearted if you don't, since I'm inordinately fond of what you manage to come up with daily. =)

this picture confuses the hell out of me. I cannot figure out how you shot if for some reason. Weird...oh well

Im doing a strange subject in my current photography class, its pretty much the stuff on walls people dont notice, more or less other art or designs on the side of buildings, I take the photo with the subject filling the frame, at first I kept wondering what I am doing taking these pictures...well, I am still wondering, but this shot reminds me of those, just in color...hehe...ok I am rambling on...goodnight

Thanks everyone, and no, this wasn't one of my best efforts. I'm discovering that virii and creative photography don't complement one another all that well :-/

Yeah, that one's hurts my eyes... I think I might have nightmares about it... But that comment: "For some odd reason, this photo reminds me of the presidential election" had me LOL so I guess it's all good :)
