As I'm still sniffling and generally feeling grotty I didn't manage to take anything new today (or yesterday), but I did manage to go to work so I guess I'm probably on the mend.
Anyway, this shot was one I took last month not long after getting my 70-200 f/4, and was more of a test shot than anything else. For those of you not familiar with Blackpool Tower, it's 518 feet nine inches high, opened in 1894, and cost £42,000 to build. It's hardly a massively tall structure by modern standards (the CN tower, for example, is 1815 feet high), but it did give me a good idea as to the capabilities of my new lens.

It looks like there's smoke coming out from behind it.. Cool tones. I like it.

If you had trouble accessing chromasia today it's probably related to the fact that it (and a number of other photoblogs) got slashdotted – not pretty :-/

Looks like an abandoned spaceship of Flash Gordon era!

Looks good David. A lot of details and nice colours. But there is nothing special about it, it's just a good shoot. If you maybe would have included more of the tower, not just the top?

don't like this one at all. not much of the sky to see, neither the tower, and the part of the tower depicted doesn't contain anything special.

I love the colors and shadows here, but I'd also like to see a bit more of the tower.

Thanks all. And yes, this isn't a particularly great shot. I put it up more because I didn't want to miss a day rather than anything else.
