I'm much happier with this one than yesterday's, probably because it's much closer to my intentions; i.e. the composition seems to work, the colours are pleasant, and it conveys something of the Autumnal feel I was after.
That said, do feel free to critique this shot. I've got the impression over recent days that people are reluctant to leave *any* criticism! While I don't find "don't like this one" type comments all that useful, I do like constructive critique as, hopefully, they enable me to improve. If you're interested I wrote something a while ago about comments (that's linked from the bottom nav bar of the comments popup but may not be obvious) that you can read here.

I didn't even realize that was a reflection at first until I noticed the slight water distortions. Did you add some coloring to the lower right of the reflection? Also did you do some blurring in the upper right? Fall colors and moods sure are conveyed in this photo.

I really like this one. The symmetry gives a nice, tranquil feel, as does the smoothness of the reflection. I love the green grass in the background and the colors of the trees. Makes me wish I lived there and could look out at that view every day.

Well spotted! A really good pattern.
I'm worried that the top rings in the 'top' fence don't show up, because they are against the trees. Would the reflection have worked with a lower viewpoint, would it even have been possible?!

Hello. I am enjoying browsing the blog, which I found from chartno3.com . Either you really like going to Blackpool or you live there. Possibly even both. I'm just interested because I come from St. Annes and this is the first real creative web presence I've discovered from this area - and what a great one too. You're capturing beauty in Blackpool which (terribly St. Annesy thing to say but honestly) eluded me in th past. Thanks for awakening me to it.

I like the concept of the iron works as framing bit 6 frames is to much, looses the focus point, crop alot and see what you get.

I am a bit torn about this shot.
Here's what I like:
- The symmetry
- The colors of the sky in the reflection
- The autumnal colors of the trees.
What I don't like:
- The buildings in the background.
- The yellowish thing in the left-top corner is a bit distracting.
I don't know, the colors just seem kinda busy at the top. You've got (from left to right): yellow, white, dark brown, white, orange-ish, then green.

I actually prefer yesterdays shot. It is just something about the colour i don't like about this one. Maybe if it was shot at a shorter focal length so you could see more of the field in the background. Just my 2¢.

I really enjoy the colors in this photo. It really catches the mood of an overcast fall day. I think my favorite part is the bit in the top right quarter. Something abou those thinning golden trees really strikes me. Good shot.

This is indeed very chromasia! Like the colours and the composition is good i.e. the mid point of the crosses is at ground level..
Don't think I would change anything. Would be nice to have more sky in the shot but then you would get more wall and need to crop.
Good shot.
Thanks,
Peter

Thanks everyone.
Jarod: I used a blurred layer set to overlay blend mode to soften this image - hence the bluriness in the top right.
peterv: I did try a few other angles, but none of them really worked out all that well.
Roy: yes, we live in Blackpool.
Louis: I *hate* cropping ;-)
Tristan: I know what you mean, and I did try a black and white version, but it seemed overly sterile and cold in comparison.
