I'm glad that I had a couple of shots in reserve as I didn't manage to take anything today, mostly because we were up in the night with our youngest who had a temperature of 105! It turns out she's got an ear infection, in addition to a cold – but she now has some medicine, and seems much better this evening. The young are remarkably resilient.
Anyway: this shot, and tomorrow's entry (they are somewhat similar so it makes sense to put them up back to back), were taken at St. Annes (four or five miles south of Blackpool), as were my previous five shots. And while I like this one, I think I prefer tomorrow's – it's much more surreal.

I like this one, and I agree that the woman and the dog adds to the vastness of the photo. It's like they're the last living beings on Earth. Very nice. Ca't wait to see tomorrow's if you like it better than this one.

David!!
I just filed formal papers to divorce my husband so I can marry this photo.
I'm sorry to hear about your daughter. My son has had a high fever all day and I can't sleep for worrying about it. :-(

This is a good scene, but I honestly think that this picture, and a lot of your others would be better if the contrast and saturation were toned down.

Just want to be there - the moisture, the coolness and the feeling of warmth from the colours yet isolation. A great image to start the day over a cup of coffee.

Brrrr! . This gives me a great feeling of the time of day as the ground is so dark. The last one of the St Annes pier had the skyline higher, and I think was more effective. It depends what feeling you wanted , but I feel the skyline in the middle doesn't give it tension.

I've been quietly enjoying your images for a short time now, and am pleased at how my own vision is improving as I walk through daily life. The reason I'm posting now is to let you know that I'm using Firefox and have no trouble at all viewing your site, changing the colour schemes, browsing the archives, or adding comments (obviously!).

More later, but in the meanwhile: don't worry about the Firefox issue. I've spoken to Peter and it must have been a temporary glitch at his end.

Beautiful. The same things that I said about Sunday's entry apply to this one too. And with that, I'm off to the beach, so I'm hoping to find something similar. :)

Thanks everyone. And just to let you know that our daughter is now running around causing total havoc again ;-) And Dwight: yes, Fahrenheit rather than Celsius ;-)
As for your comments –
Jeremy: Personally I know what you mean, and do often produce less contrasty/saturated versions of a lot of the shots I put up, but I do put up the versions that I think best suit the subject matter.
peterv: I'm not sure about the skyline. You're right, the image would have more tension if it were higher or lower, but I don't think it would have conveyed the sense of space in quite the same way as this one.
