I started posting an image a day on chromasia on February 5th this year, and other than a couple of days when I didn't get my act together and eight days of guest entries when we moved house, I've just about met my aims.

During that time chromasia seems to have become quite popular (my daily traffic is now about the same as I received in the whole of February, which never ceases to amaze me), but the really great thing about chromasia though is that people continue to visit, to comment, to advise, and occasionally tell me where I've gone wrong (more constructive critique please!!) – and that's what makes it worthwhile. I think I've improved a bit since February 5th, and some of that improvement is down to practice, but a lot of it stems from the constructive dialogue I have with you all and the time and effort you expend in discussing and commenting on my work. Thank you.

On which note: I hope you all have a wonderful 2005 and that you'll all be here again this time next year :-)

Oh, and in the absence of a totally stunning shot with which to end the year I thought this one was quite fitting (if you're in the Northern Hemisphere at least):

'Don't Think' about it being cold outside. 'Don't Think' about the rain or the hail or the snow. 'Don't Think' about all the other things you should be doing instead of taking photographs. Just 'Shoot'!!!! :-)

Happy New Year David!

That's exactly the message I needed to get me outside to take some photos. Over here in Calgary we've been having -20 to -30 degree weather with about 30cm of snow on the ground as well. It's not the nicest of weather out to be shooting, but I'll try to make the most if it...before my fingers fall off that is....

Anyways, wishing you and your family the best in the new year. Cheers to 2005!

" ‘Don’t Think’ ..... Just ‘Shoot’!!!! :-) " might have to take your advice for 2005 and see what i come up with.

and all the best for 2005 Dave ....

Great message. Happy 2005, David. Your wife (or is that your oldest?) adds a nice balance to the composition. Did you direct her to press her back up agains the glass?

Dave, following the dramatic rise of your characteristic curve was an enjoyable part of 2004 and I look forward to future developments :-)
Have a great 2005!

This shot is just awesome. Somewhat looks like one of those cool Canon adverts. (just a bit)

Happy New Year 2005, and thanks for helping to foster a greater interest in photography.

Not to be negative, but I bet it's awfully
hard to "just shoot" while holding a 20D
outside a subway train with one arm...!
HNY, in any case.

i can't tell what this photo is of...is it an actual photo you took of someone, or is it a photo of a billboard or picture on a wall?

comment by blinking8s at 08:59 PM (GMT) on 3 January, 2005

I did an entire photo session in my class on signs and adverts. A lot of the worked looked similar to this except for it was film. SO naturally I like it.

Buen culo.

comment by kate at 04:25 AM (GMT) on 9 January, 2005

a bit late to comment, but what i like most are the two curves beginning at her shoulders decending to her waistline, mirroring the curved line at her shoulder level on the plexi behind her and, the leg position perfectly mirroring the black line "tower" to the right of her right shouler. also, having pressed my back against the plexi like this in frigid weather while waiting for the "el", it feels real, there is emotion in her stance, resolute, and the gloved hand appears partially bandaged, almost like a boxer's. all juxtaposed with the whimsical advert to the right. nothing less than brilliant. ;0
