Adrian: it's a window, with some odd things behind it and some slightly less odd things reflected in it.

Dave: Wouldn't that slogan be appropriate for most of your other images as well?
comment byChelsea June at 09:53 PM (GMT) on 16 January, 2005
ah, this is nice. I like the lighting and colors. =)
comment bydjn1 at 09:57 PM (GMT) on 16 January, 2005
miklos: ok, I'll have the slogan say "sometimes I really, really love the Curves tool" ;-)

the colors are awsome, i guess it's thanks to the mentioned curves tool.
1/500s with f5,6 is something i don't get every day shooting windows.

Wow I love this image. The colours are warm and invinting.
The curve tool, what does this do? I presume it is on photoshop.
comment by tobias at 12:01 AM (GMT) on 17 January, 2005
Oh cool, Dave I think I've found it. I can see why you like it. Makes adjusting the colour and warmth of the image quite straight forward.
I am I right in saying it's found: Adobe/Layer/New Adjustment Layer/Curves
What about using this tool for black and white. Would it work just as well with grayscale or soes grayscale remove too much depth?
comment bymyla at 01:43 AM (GMT) on 17 January, 2005
Dave this is fantastic. . . I love the colors and the angle; really well captured.

what a stunning image. The colors are great and the reflection. I love it all.

I think that if you do that t-shirt you would have to print a few and I would be a happy customer (lol) :) I do agree.

Wow. A wonderful image. Wonderful tones -- wonderful composition -- wonderful suggestions of a past time, when copper and glass were primary materials, when industrialization was king.

tobias: the Curves tool is predominantly for controlling the contrast, but a side-effect is an increase in saturation as well. If you just want to change the contrast you can convert the image to Lab Color and adjust the Curve for the lightness channel only. And yes, it works just as well for black and white images.
Adriana: ok, if I ever get any done I'll let you know ;-)
Sharla: thanks :-)

There is a nice 19th century chemistry look to this picture. Nice shot!

My first thought of this shot was beer, don't know why.
I love the mix of yellow-gold with the blues.

Nice work. The hazy window in the middle contributes a lot to the picture.
I also love the curves tool, although my curves tool is in Gimp instead of Photoshop! I'd be interested to see the original, before Photoshop postprocessing; I'm sure that a lot of amateur photographers would benefit from the before-and-after difference (myself included, very likely).

The colors and the lighting is just perfect! I have no clue of what it is (haven't read your comments yet, don't wanna ruin this moment I'm having). I think I could keep staring for this one for an hour. Just pure mint! Keep it up!
I'm thinking of getting a t-shirt printed with this image on, and underneath it will say "I love the Curves tool" ;-)
