We've been out all day today, visiting friends and family, and I did take quite a few shots but they were all lacking in one respect or another so it's back to archive raiding again this evening. This one was taken last November, and while I think the background is too distracting I do think it's amusing.
Oh, and my wife titled this one. I was going to attempt to come up with something a bit more subtle ;-)

I paticularly like that you can see the world trade center buildings in the background window reflections (upper left), with the large flame coming out of the one to the right.

I don't know if the intention was to post something funny, but it seems to be like that. The composition is full of diverse elements. The cactus evokes hot weather and the rest of it complements it wit a fashion style. The background colors makes a perfect match with the maceta (I don't know how to say that in english) and a perfect constast with the B & W photos. The buildings reflection just assure that you're in downtown somewhere. Nice David. I really enjoyed this one.

1/OFF TOPIC/You've probably already addressed this, either in response to a question previosly asked or off your own accord - BUT - why on earth does your portfolio load instead of the most recent image? I demand change!! You know.. because 19 year olds have so much authority and all that.
2/ON TOPIC/I know I've already mentioned this, but I feel as though I am somewhat blessed in being a dial-up user, in that the title loads long before the photo which gives me plenty of time to ponder what the photo can be. Though I'm rarely ever right when it comes to preconceptions, I was WAY off the mark this time. BUT - The photo.. it has a lot of 'nitty gritty' things (small aspects which are often overlooked). Though the photo doesn't rank in with the vast majority of the others you've published, there are some wonderful qualities in which this photo possesses; though none of the ones that spring to my mind have sexual connotations. The first is this:
I don't know whether this was intentional or not, or even if it can be referred to as 'DoF', but the foreground is remarkably sharper than what resides further back, namely the.. it actually looks like an oversized shoe rack :| Whilst the cactai retains the edge granted by a camera such as the 20D, the background appears much more smooth - somewhat reminiscent of the earlier PowerShot models (e.g. S30/3.2MP).
The second is the cultural crossover, which I believe was breifly touched upon by Adriana. The images introduce mainstream sophistication which is often associated with places like New York, whilst the cactus brings us over to the West (Clint Eastwood 'West', that is). The somewhat sepia tint of the background vaguely resembles old mid-western America (Suburbia? Think little diners/stand alone one story offices in the middle of nowhere) and then the reflection of the cars, traffic lights, and a horizon void of skyscrapers whips us straight back over the pond to good 'ol England. And so, all in all, a very diverse photo.
3/SUGGESTION/My original interpretation of the title was a portrait picture, the visualisation of which was probably pulled straight out of 'Lolita' (dir. Stanley K. of 'Full Metal Jacket', 'The Shining', etc..) or maybe it was from the poster of that movie 'Sabrina'. ANYWAYS. It was a close up portrait, from the side (but at about 45 deg, so the head was slightly turned towards the camera) and the female in the picture was sporting VERY 19(50?)s sunglasses - a tad large and overbearing, but totally in style for its day. I suppose it could be shot in B/W, or color, provided the sunglasses were a vivid red, sporting.. polka dots, or something. I'm only bringing this up because I think it'd be awesome to see your attempt at recreating/interpretation of this.. somewhat vague description. *shrug* I dunno. I'll dig up a photo and send it your way.. just.. because :|
As ever, keep up the good great work :)

kate: no, we spell it with a 'ph'.
miles: I don't know whether it was deliberate, but I guess it may well have been.
Alex: I've reset the redirect from chromasia.com to point to the latest image. And if I get a chance I'll try and shoot the image you suggest – it would work well.

Wow! Great SEO! Well done! Here am I working away in my little ol' Cheshire marketing and website design company thinking I'm getting somewhere and you've got it licked already.
Also, I think your photos are wonderful, especially the one of the people in the train.
I'm going to keep looking for a print for my hall wall to go with my Lempicka copies...
