I know, it's another shot from a train with some reflections in the window, but it's been one of those days. Tomorrow, all being well, will bring something a little more innovative.

mike: trust me, that's not the case ;-) I took about 40 shots today, quite liked this one, could have rescued about three others, and deleted the rest after looking at the thumbnails. I didn't have a particularly inspired day today.
beth: thanks.

I really like the reflections, color is ick though. *nods*
What does everybody else think about the colour(s)? I did try a black and white version (which looked too 'flat'), and a more colourful version, but I wasn't happy with either of them so went with this desaturated version.

it's just what this shot needs, normally i don't like it but for this one it's perfect
comment bysylvainman at 11:50 PM (GMT) on 9 March, 2005
sure, it's not your best shot, but i will be happy to take one like that a day without creative thinking. the desaturation is well controlled, there are just enough colours. exactly as i like. bravo.

aww I'm jealous. I absolutely love this. Train reflections are my favourite reflections, as horribly geeky as that sounds to even have a favourite type of reflection.

I like desaurated look, it gives it a really nice feeling.

As a partial expat I'm seeing something in this that really says England. I think it's that girl on the right.
Was the train moving slow? 1/60 with no blur on board a moving train is quite tough to do.

I'm trying to distinguish something special in this photo but frankly speaking I can't. sorry.. maybe next time

ali - most trains stop when they arrive at a station ^_^
dave - i don't know whether its the majority or minority vote that i'm siding with (can't be bothered to count) but i'm really liking the outcome of this. sure - the photo itself isn't mindblowing or offering a great deal of insight, but due to the post-process, i think you've really captured england in this shot. notice the generally overcast/grey feel to the photo, and also that no one's smiling. it's like.. corrination street!
on another note - the reflections were necessary for this shot, as they add 'little' things which would otherwise appear bland and not really all that interesting. par example - the 'white space' on the left hand side (that actually does happen to be.. white) and the way the [opposite window?] overlays on the leftmost person [re: upper torso]. you've also got some nifty square lighting going on above him :| and also, just right of the girl are some arrows - the cool thing about these is, you can't really tell whether they're part of the wall or the reflection. either way, it looks completely 'out of place' and.. yeah. i'm done :x *shuffles off*
miles - its the pale, clear complexion, the hair.. and her belt. only an english person would DARE wear a belt like that.

I've always like this kind of color effect. Reminds me of the kim anderson postals; www.kim-arts.com/

Your least innovative make my most innovative look like charcoal rubbings. :)
..English people DO smile! I hope you take some of people enjoying themselves in the Summer David, in Blackpool?!
Thanks for the daily photographs, I enjoy looking at them.

I like the colors, the desaturation works well
this is not your portfolio shot, still quite nice
I think the difference between your great shots and the good shots is a thought, an idea they're usually expressing while being technically great, or innovative

Desat makes this photo work very well I think. I love the colours.

I think this desaturated colour is good. The reflection makes it more appealing.

I happen to enjoy the effect. I even like how it is difficult the difference between the steel structure of the station and the reflection of the train; especially on the right-hand side of the shot. The color, or lack thereof, makes the shot for me.
