Don't anyone mention plumbing as, tomorrow, I have to bring down part of our kitchen ceiling to fix a leaking compression joint that was installed by either a plumber with an IQ that you can count on your fingers, a total blithering idiot, or maybe the two of them working together. And I would have chosen to lift the floorboards above the joint only there's a toilet immediately above it :-/
So I've gone off plumbing, not least because I spent three hours today fixing another leaking joint that was obviously installed by the same daft pillock that installed the one I can't reach (mentioned above).
That said, all the new pipework is in and none of it leaks, so things could be considerably worse.
As for this shot, it's of an old fire-extinguisher that's been sat in a dusty corner of our utility room since we moved in last summer. I couldn't bear to take any more pictures of pipes ;-)

You've got this real talent for making everyday things seem really interesting - nice one!

I like the focus of the gage, on the right side of the picture, and I also like the depth of field. One can see its small range by looking at the tank. I hope your ceiling work goes above your expectations.

Awesome depth of field. I really like this shot in the grey theme. The detail in the dust is pretty amazing.
daft pillock? now that's one I haven't heard in a while. kitchen reno -- is there anything you Don't do? Inquiring minds would love to know. =) amazing work, as always (and I'm working on the *** for Libby tonight, I'll e-mail ya) =)
Great photo, I love the contrast - my only suggestion would be to crop the bottom that is out of focus - my eyes are drawn to it, making it a little distracting.

I am sorry, but unlike with most of your pictures I totally miss the point here. Why did you take this shot? Where is the balance? You called the pic "in the green", but the green is hardly visible because of bad lighting.
I know that I am not an expert and that it is often a matter of taste. In general I admire your work and come to see your pics on an almost daily basis.
Take a look at some of my pics and be harsh. I deserve it...

I like this. Reminds me of the pics I used to take with my camera phone - macro detail was about the only thing that it could manage!
Possibly speaking out of turn but methinks Hans could calibrate his monitor. The green stands out fine on mine.

It's hard to find a good plumber these days isn't it?? Nice work at making something normally boring, into something interesting! Keep up the amazing work!
very nice shot, the colours are really pleasant and there's a very harmonious feel to the image.

If calibrating does the magic, I will need to calibrate three different monitors: the one on my laptop, the one at work and the one in the public library of Rotterdam.
I did not say that I cannot recognize the green part in the picture. It is an issue of lighting, not of color management.

that means you also have to repair the ceiling..... :(
Good focus.....slither of detail on the cylinder.
Why do women keep swapping and chainging things.....my DIY jobs list got 3 more tasks added today. :(
Intresting depth! May I recommend a shot? If so, I would like to see wide shot of the area you're working on. *nods*
nice one, quite interesting
the English (British, if there is a such a thing from your perspective) English lesson was interesting as well

I have a random question, what color space do you use?
Thanks everyone.
Jesse: I ended up taking part of the wall down instead, but it went ok.
Fellow Eskimo: ok, I'll see what I can do.
myla: yes, a few things ;-)
Hans: I'm inclined to agree with Aegir; i.e. that your monitior probably needs calibrating.
Beth: Adobe RGB (1998) as my working space then I convert to sRGB IE61966-2.1 prior to using Save for Web.
