Well, it was a wrench, but I managed to leave the Lensbaby and the homemade tilt/shift lens off the camera today and ended up taking three shots that I like. Well; this one is (moderately) ok, there's one that I really like that I might put up tomorrow, and the third is one of those "oops, I don't have anything else to put up" shots, so you may well see it at some point.
As for this one: I took it with the post-processing in mind; i.e. a big increase in contrast (Curves) and a boost to the saturation (channel mixer).

I have to agree with brad on that one. Nice colours though, very plain.

Agreed - nice and simple - I'm a contrast boosting nut - kudos for that. This also might be fun to posterize.

I'm not sure if many people responded the other day to the "comments word count" script you were asking for, but I thought I'd put my two cents in.
I don't know MT at all, but here is a bit of php/MySQL that you can use to get a pretty close count of the number of words in a MySQL table:
If anyone knows of a better way, please share.
Use this as a reference, to see how close this script's count is to your actual wordcount MT plugin... and if it's close, just replace the table and field names to your comments table and comment body fields..
If you need more help, let me know.
If you find this useless, then I apologize. Also if I made mistakes in the php script.. (I tested it against my own db and it worked)

At first glance, this one looks like it could have been drawn! It's the kind of thing Zar comes out with on Paint programmes. I think this is because of the unexpected colours & lack of context. I kinda like it though: it makes you peer at it and wonder what it is & where it is.

it looks like you put that "out of order" on there with photoshop or so.
actually i have no idea what this is, why somebody does this and why you took a photo ;)
anyways, i still wonder why you have two kids who dont live with you. this is in my brain all the time and i am thinking about writing you an email and asking why.

Brad/Fellow Eskimo: yes, it needs a wash, but if it was clean it wouldn't be half so interesting ;-)
miklos: it works, thanks :-) The only things that need changing are the the table and field references. You have them as:
$table = 'mt_entry';
$field = 'entry_body';
But they need to be:
$table = 'mt_comment';
$field = 'comment_text';
Thanks again :-)

Oh, and if anyone's interested, I've incorporated the comment word count script here, and it reports that there are 9229 comments containing a total of 370278 words (excluding this comment) – which is quite a lot :-)
comment bymiklos at 02:07 PM (GMT) on 23 April, 2005
djn: I know it needs to be the comments table, the only reason I made it the entries table originally was so that you can compare to your existing script which counts the number of words in the entries table ;) .. I've updated my page.
comment bydjn1 at 02:12 PM (GMT) on 23 April, 2005
miklos: ok, that makes sense. The reason I was confused is that I've used javascript to count the words in the main entries as I don't have enough knowledge of php to use it for anything other than 'includes'. I'll probably switch it over to use your original scipt as is seems like a neater solution.
