Too tired to speak this evening but did want to mention that other than a Curves adjustment and a 180 degree rotation, this is a straight shot.
Update: I've entered this photograph in this week's Photo Friday challenge – Action. It's not entirely suitable, but I've missed loads of challenges recently and wanted to enter this one.

Fabulous. Reminds fire, indeed. Or a sort of other world - and the person looks like if she (or he) was an integral part of it. Fine piece of art, well done.

Another example of why your photo-blog is rated number 1. The colour, the composition, the texture!

i've been thinking that i should be more critical of people's posts to help them, constructively, but there's nothing i can think of that would make this photo better. i love it david.

Speaking of Photo Friday, I was going through your archives and read at one point that you wanted to give your children a Photo Friday account so they could submit entries? Did that ever take off? Children's photographs are always so interesting.

This shot is so awesome! I just had to laugh because only when I saw the comments I realized what this picture really shows.
When I entered this site, I was like, "Oh my God, what is this?" And I was shocked. I thought there was a big fire coming out of some coke cans or so and I wondered why the smoke was in such a weird direction. The fence or whatever this yellow stuff on the ground is seemed like fire to me too.
Then I read the comments and recognized that I was completely wrong...
hmm now where is this exactly ;) , this is a cracker dave.

For me this has initially the vibrant impact and dynamism of maybe burning oilwells on the horizon through a heat haze. Hang on. Then you see it as a reflection in water. A subject that is traditionally vvv tranquill. For me its an interesting contradiction. Nice one. JC in NYC

If I did not think I know who this is, then I'd say an image from the Vietnam war.
