I met up with John today (shotsphotography.co.uk) as we're shooting a wedding tomorrow so thought we'd talk it through, so we went up to Fleetwood – about five miles up the coast from Blackpool – and chatted as we took a few shots. And I did expect that at least five or six of them would turn out ok but it looks as though this is the only one that I'll put up. There may be one or two more, but on first glance it would seem as though I didn't do too good a job with the rest of them.

Those are some lovely colours and textures David! I'm dying to get myself a 17-40L lens for my 20D :(

I really like this picture. The blocks of color, (the log, the sky, the sand), are broken up by the specks of color on the sand in the middle. A really excellent shot.
I would say your pictures are the best in color that I've seen shot with canon cameras. The L glass might be responsible of this:-)
Still I think you have a very good eye for photography no matter what's the camera.
Awsome shot. DOF is amazing and the cracks in the wood (?) looks like waves on the shore.

You always find intresting locations, and im stuck in the same place. Very intresting texture on this one, especally the sand. And the background is very odd. What are those things on the ground? Hard to tell, but it is an intresting picture. And I do like this lens, too bad I would never be able to afford it!
My eye is instantly drawn to the foreground, the markings, cracks and shapes in the wood -- but what grabs me is the DOF and the colours that are striking in the background. That sky is wonderful.

I love the ambiguity in terms of the objects on the sand beyond the wood -- you can't quite gauge the depth, so they could be anything from pebbles to people. Makes me want summer to hurry up!

Its an interesting angle and the colours and depth of field are excellent, i am lucky enough to have the 17-40L and its a fantastic lens, go buy one if you can afford it.
Good luck with the wedding tomorrow, hope you have a more successfull shoot than your one with John today :-)

Strong composition David. Love the striations in the log. The tones in the sand/log work great with those deep blue skies. Is it already beach weather there? We've still got a ways to go here in Vienna ;) Regards, -T
I love all the horizonal layers here. The sprawling clouds, speckled landscape, the petrified wood, and finally the sandy ground at the bottom. It reminds me of one of those sand sculptures between glass.
