If I'd been a bit more awake yesterday I might have decided to just put this shot up rather than both, as I much prefer this one. And again, I know this is more of a 'straight shot' than I would normally put up, but it was a beautiful scene and I don't think there's much I could do to 'improve' it, nor do I want to.
As always, let me know what you think.

I agree, I like this better than yesterday's. The natural "v" in the mountains directs my eye to the sheep in the center of the field. I also agree...no corrections needed. Good enough!

Haven't been by in awhile, but I'm glad to see that you shooting is still top notch.
fridaycafe: I did think about cropping this one and posting a panorama but, for me at least, this shot is as much about the space above the scene as it is about the scene itself – something about the scale of the landscape under the sky. I didn't put that very well, but I guess you'll know what I mean (hopefully).

I really liked the other shot but you're right - this is the stronger of the two. Love the gradation of tone and light on the horizon and the softness of the mist
I've seen this view myself and I think you capture it perfectly. I definitely like the glowering expanse of grey sky stretching to the top. It adds weight, and if you'd cropped it lower you'd have ended up with a conventional, moody postcard type image in the style of Colin Baxter.

Spectacular.... I am sure I recognise this landscape from near Lake Windermere... but then again I could easily be wrong. The style of shot really makes me think "Lord of the Rings", a shot of the Shire, or perhaps Elven Rohan.
Once again, you impress me beyond words...

It's gorgeous as is, though.

Before I read Skause's comment I'd already said to myself "100 times better than yesterday's" - so I find myself absolutely in agreement with that commenter again!
But it's not about being better or worse - or being less mundane - it's about having that magic ingredient that lifts it from the literal to the poetic. This has it to my mind; yesterday's didn't.

A pleasant change to see a landscape shot with cool colours that work.
It also reminded me about one of my recent posts about sheep ;o)
The V created by the two hills is perfect, and I love the broad expanse of sky at the top. That kind of sky always makes me think about now dark the sky gradually becomes as you get closer to space. This effect is very apparent from an airplane and it always fascinates me.

this is an amzazing piece of art!
the different shades of blue and the bottom greens dotted with cattle.. ummm.. this is really gr8!
Wonderful, I agree that this shot is more balanced, more simple and more effective than the previous. I think it could use a little usm because the foggy atmosphere makes it rather flat. Did you make any changes in photoshop?
This picture is stunning. It's looks so peaceful and calm. It looks amazing. I liked how the fog wraps on the mountains. The place looks so untouched by civilzation.

I like this shot. It's a little different from what I normally expect to see when I visit your site. The hills in the distance are great. I don't have that sort of height where I'm at! I like the framing also, giving that much of the sky is great.

this better than than the shot from yesterday. the colours in the sky and the hills in the background are stunning.
To me it has that translucent feel with perfect blend of subdued colours. Love the sky's different shades of blue. Was noise filter used? I just love it. Such a departure from your usual....
I hope you don't mind but I've saved this to my machine to use as a desktop - it is so lovely!!!! I just want to be there. You are really an incredible photographer, thanks for sharing your beautiful pictures with us.
Now this is fabulous. . . oh to be able to go leaping through that cool grass and feel that wonderful mist. More of these, please (and the girls, always). . . =)

This is an amazing shot. The scene is quite breathtaking. The fog gives this picture a mysterious and yet soothing appearance. The cattle also gives the picture a sence of peace and innocence. The mountains give a presence of superiority, and the white light streaming across the sky gives freedom. This is a really well done photo.

Hi Dave
This shots is great! Many compliment. It gives me a very good feeling.
I started right a couple of weeks ago with my own photoblog, but unfortunately it’s still under construction; unfortunately I have not much so time to spend around it. It is, in any, case available on line. If you like to join it you will be welcome. Any your comment would be much appreciated.
Thank you much and many compliments again for your work.

Stunning. I love it
I like this shot more than previous. It's more ballanced...
The scene is so peacefull!
I agree with Finwe.
Like in my dreams only ... It has layers, fog, trees, grass field and ... the sheeps :) I would crop more on the sky to make it a panorama.

Wow. Very nice shot
This is definitely better than yesterdays shot. Love the soft colours and the balance of the photo.
The vivid green of the grass contrasting with the gradual change in colour of the sky is excellent.
Perhaps an upgrade to the Portfolio? ; )

So peaceful :-)
It calms me down after a hectic day... nice nice
btw, did you add some green on the grass? It looks pretty saturated and stands out from the picture while the rest of the frame is rather soft.

Very different from your usual work, but I like it. The scene is very serene and calm...
Alan (Graham): it's Edale, in the Peak District.
fraxinus: I agree, this shot has something that's missing from yesterday's.
Mystery Me: lol ;-)
PhilB: yes, I think you're right.
jcyrhs: yes, the saturation is boosted a bit.=
Juice: an increase in saturation and a Curves adjustment masked by a gradient (to mimic the use of a graduated filter to lift the foreground).
