Ok, so the title's a bit of an exaggeration, but I do like the fact that the left and right sides of the shot appear to be of different (albeit similar) scenes.

Oh I love the tone on this and the clarity of the wood. The composition splits this picture in two but it still views as one. There is a tiny rock just on th bottom edge that you should have got Paul from Skinnybuzzard to re position for you.
David that is beautiful! I've just been admiring your sunset photos because i've been away for the weekend and not seen them till now. I've also been at the coast this weekend trying to get some long exposure seascapes but sadly was fairly unsuccessful due to so little time. This one is beautiful! I love the composition and colours, and of course the softness of the water. Lush! :)
Kyle: I didn't do anything. This was a 30 second exposure, which is just about right to retain some sense of movement in the water.

Great shot, the tones and the detail in the wood are amazing, and not to mention the water too. And oh yeah, i have seen Ioannis's pic of you lot and the manky fish, that thing was gross :-)

It almost looks like an angels' beach leading to the clouds.
Great picture. The water and sky coming together and wood disaperaring.
Did you use any filters for achieving a long exposer?

Very intresting! I like the fog/water effect...and the rocks as the water is going near them are very intresting...it all seems very surreal. I like it :)
so nice shot david ! at 10 51 PM its night isnt it? the move of the water seems so smooth really wonderful !

I hate to criticise but I feel these shots illustrate the exact reason why we visit...

The colour of the water is the best on this one... The wood is really cleas as well.. It even looks nice, whereas in real life it's just a dark rotting piece of wood...
Fanatastic shot, the water looks so surreal. Just wondered, how did you get the 30sec shutter speed at f14... did you use some additional filters to lengthen the shutter?
Great picture.
Did you use a polarized filter or any other kind?
comment by jcyrhs at 04:34 AM (GMT) on 27 June, 2005
The sea doesn't look so much like the sea any more... the waves merges to seemingly form mist covering the "beach". The sharpness of the rocks on the beach takes away some attention from the fence(?)...
Love the overall feel... two diagonals splits from the wooden structure and the waves...
How i wish i can do that... but till i get my neutral density filter...or polarising filter... Gimme more!!

Wow! Excellent cloud effect of the waves. Do I see sky there?
Congrats Dave for the 'Time'ly mention! You deserve it!

There seems to be a bit of confusion about how this one was shot: I didn't use any filters (ND or polarisers) as it was actually quite dark at the time - ten to eleven at night.
This is a really beautiful shot. the colour of the water makes the scene look icy cold, although this was shot in midsummer. i see what you mean about looking an impossible Escher picture. I love the way the breakwatre slowly fades away in the distance.
Your shots are simply amazing. Every time I visit your website I'm suprised by the beautiness of your photos. They make me feel as if I'm on a holiday trip in a beautiful country.

I'm not sure it's very Escher, but I really like the mood of this shot. The water seems ghostly.

Is this really Blackpool? I live the other side of the estuary in Southport. I obviously haven't looked hard enough for photo opportunities along the coast. Beautiful image.

I really like this because it makes the eye look towards the area where the mini-fence can no longer be seen. Sort of mysterious, really.

The groyne itself is pretty attractive too, for a groyne! I admire the effect the long exposure has given to the water; there's something to be said, too about the quality of the light during our late summer evenings; very atmospheric.

Brings back old memories of going to beach at Littlehampton. Inspires me to take pictures of the more simple things that have a lasting impact. We all have rocks, wood and water but nothing like an English break wall. Thanks again.

the color and texture of that water is unreal. very very nice

Very nicely done! It is almost dreamy.
I really like this one, Dave. It seems like they're rising out of the water somehow. And the pebbles just under the surface -- really nice touch.

The water at the banks slightly exposing the rocks looks straight out of an animated film :-) Great photograph!
