I haven't taken any new stuff over the last couple of days – mostly because things have been rather hectic here – so I've raided the archives for this shot. As for this one: it taken as part of a commission for a company who wanted to produce some promotional material utilising a seaside theme, and the brief for this image was "company you can trust", where "company" could be interepreted quite loosely. Anyway, this was one of the ideas we came up with and they ended up going for a more tightly focussed version of this shot.

Tomorrow, all being well, I should be putting up a portrait of Rhowan as it's her fourth birthday. I expect we'll be woken up quite early ;-)

What I find so intriguing about this shot is that the hands don't seem to match the shadows!

Seaside dreaming. Nice photo!

garyx: you're right, there does seem to be a discrepancy, but this is a straight shot. I guess it must be to do with the angle.

Nice colors. :-)
Did you use a filter ? The image is really soft.

Nice shot. You must have been quite close to the subject, right ? Then I'm a little bit surprised by the fact that we're not seeing your own shadow.

I love the shadow on the sand in this shot...it seems like it tells more of the story behind the photo than the actual subject in front of you.

Yeah, very nice shot indeed. And what a sweet idea... company you can trust :)

The soft focus is quite nice, I'm guessing a bit of the old two layers darken/lighten. The composition is great.

Glad to hear you are getting a sleep [even if it's just a few moments worth] -- hope miss rhowan has a happy birthday.

Very nice colors. The subtle soft focus works well.
Good composition.

Have to agree with the others. Great composition and colour. The soft focus is very appealling on this shot!

comment by Adriana at 06:47 AM (GMT) on 28 August, 2005

I like the vivid colors, specially cause they look prety chilhood color's Didn't get the idea of the company promotion very well, Maybe the language barrier. Any way I love the composition. :)

Hiya Adriana: company has several meanings:
1. society, firm, enterprise
2. the people who are accompanying you, with you
I think "company you can trust" was a play on words on this (hence the shot featuring 2 people holding the bucket). Hope this helps.

birthday wishes, great shot

Have you done quite a bit of CS work on this one? The clothing seems rather softened.

Lovely image all the same. The contrasting colours (you're doing well with great, vibrant colours) really go well against the blue of the sky and sand. Really cheering.

i'm amazed this post has recieved so few (well, relatively speaking:)) comments. i think it's kicking... the pov, their shadows, not to mention the chromasia colors.. everything add up. swell!
