Thanks for all your comments on yesterday's shot, they were much appreciated, not least because I thought it was a better shot than a lot of the previous street images that I've put up.
As for this shot: I don't have too much to say about it other than ... well ... actually, on this occassion, I can't really think of anything to say about it. It's a postcard, for an event already gone, nestled in the corner of a wire-mesh covered window ... but you can see that for yourselves.

Since no one has commented yet, I guess I will (for my first time). This is a great piece. I had to look at it for a second to actually figure out what was going on.
I really appreciate your work, and this site. Keep it up!

Wow this picture is just so good.......i really love the way the background colour of the postcard matches the colour of the wall, or at least it does on my monitor.
Why does the guy make me think of Badly Drawn Boy.......maybe you should see if he wants this idea for his next album cover.
This is one of my favourites, Dave...Absolutely stunning...I love each and every aspect of this one...

This shot is FANTASTIC! The face, the grid, the colors, the butterfly....it's all going on here. I like many (most) of your photographs, but this is far and away my favorite.
comment byStuartR at 08:50 PM (GMT) on 4 October, 2005
Quite difficult to tell if the guy is on the postcard or if he's actually there, looking all creepy!

Like the compassion, cool picture....

Really stunning...the convergence of so many elements...the textures, colours, tones etc. I'm speechless!

How very clever! It would have taken me a while to figure this out had you not shared with us. I like the blue overtones and the grain. It has a melodramatic feel to it.

I like the colours and the textures in this photo... very beautiful.

Great colour. The blue overtones are compelling.

is this a photo.....it kinda looks photoshopped (especially the butterfly and the writing on the side)

This shot is ver effective as a play on perspective. At first glance, it looked like a large poster behind a gate. On closer inspection i noticed how large the bolt is in comparison to everything else and then realized how small it actually was. I like a shot that's sort of tricky, and that requires a little bit more comprehension and attention when viewing.
comment byAshwin at 02:24 AM (GMT) on 5 October, 2005
It had me fooled for a moment. :)
great shot.
comment byLeo at 03:47 AM (GMT) on 5 October, 2005
I thought it was a composition of shots at first. I guess in a sense it is. A picture of a picture.
I like the composition, it has a really trippy feel to it, like you don't know what exactly you're looking at. The blue tint on the metals is nice.
comment bylisa at 04:45 AM (GMT) on 5 October, 2005
I really like the high almost burnt colour type of feel here... if that made any sense at all. hehe.

A strange and little common photo. But that forces to you to watch it more of once. Interesting...
comment bySteveO at 09:11 AM (GMT) on 5 October, 2005
Very interesting composition, did you play with the white balance to get the blue tones?

this is just beautiful art! nothing more to say :o)

It took me a little bit before I realized what this was. I definitely like the color palette, how it looks like a film photograph taken in the 60's.
comment by twocker at 03:03 PM (GMT) on 5 October, 2005
Very untypical of you style I think. A bit to contrived and "arty". Not wishing to re-open the the"is photography art" debate, what I mean is that it appears too contrived and more like a graphic than a photo.
