It’s been a while since I posted anything new on the photoblog so I thought I’d add this one: shot last week when we visited the Shipka Monument (see the map below, and this shot from our winter trip in 2011). I don’t think I got any decent shots of the monument during this visit, but I am pleased with this one.

A shot of the (not quite so) eternal flame at Shipka Monument, originally lit to commemorate the 1877 battle for the Shipka pass: fought between the Russians and Bulgarians and the Ottoman Empire.
