Out with the old …

Back in 2003, when I first started my photoblog, I had no idea of the implications …
I didn’t realise that it would lead me to a career in photography, drawing me away from 15 years of teaching psychology in a UK university. I had no idea that it would become one of the most popular photoblogs in the world, and I didn’t imagine that it would endure for almost 14 years in much the same form.
As projects go, it’s one of my most significant, but it’s now time to move on.
Not because I intend to stop photoblogging – I don’t – but because the ‘old’ version is no longer fit for purpose and the software is too old to update. It’s still there, in a slightly simplified form, and you can still view all 2457 entries, add your comments, and so on, but we won’t be updating it in the future.
So, out with the old, and in with the new.

Shot back in 2012, this was a long exposure taken just after sunset. As you can see, if you take a look at the original, I processed this one to bring out the detail on the horizon and in the rather unusual clouds.

I'm not entirely sure I can tell you why I like this shot as much as I do, but it's one of my favourites from our recent trip to Venice.
